Nila Kurta Chambray 2
The Kurta is a centuries-old garment, with a ubiquitous design that has stood the test of time. The timeless appeal of this iconic Indian garment is imbued with pure, natural indigo for this Nila Kurta in a cool, summer blue hue. Stitched in the classic, roomy kurta silhouette, the Nila Kurta has a Nehru collar for relaxed elegance, transitioning beautifully from an everyday staple to a semi-formal piece of sustainable, stylish clothing.
Made of cotton chambray, the cloth for the Nila Kurta was woven on pit looms in Murshidabad, West Bengal. Before reaching the loom, the weft yarn was dyed in natural indigo vats by dyers in Sawantwadi, Maharashtra, deftly dipped twice to reach a light, bright indigo in Shade 2. The final stitching was done by artisans in Jaipur.
The Nila Kurta is also available as its darker twin in a deep, rich indigo shade 8.
Composition and care:
100% Handwoven Cotton
Hand wash gently with cold water and line dry in the shade.
Natural indigo is a millennia-old plant dye. The alchemy of earth, water; air, and indigo leaves creates an unpredictable beauty. The rich natural colour may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight and the cotton may carry some imperfections - this is a part of the beauty of handwoven textiles.
