The Bangala Jacket is a riff on the much-loved Jodhpur Waistcoat from the first Nila collection. Opening up the structure of its elder version, this jacket has been designed with a clean crescent moon collar and practical details of a chest pocket and roomy front pockets - a light-touch interpretation of the classic Indian sleeveless jacket.
The soft, breathable cotton used in the Bangala Jacket has been handwoven in Murshidabad, West Bengal, using indigo yarn dipped six times over to reach the brilliant, lapis blue of indigo in Shade 6. The lightweight 20s cotton is given gentle structure with a lining of fine 100s cotton that rests soft and cool on the inside.
The final stitching has been done by women artisans associated with the Udaipur-based non-profit organisation SADHNA who do exemplary work to create livelihood security for women in the rural and semi-urban areas around Udaipur by supporting and building the strength of their craft.
The Bangala Jacket is a wonderful travel piece, carrying the elegance and comfort of natural materials made by hand. The classic cut seamlessly transitions from casual to easy formal. This piece is made with great care and is meant to last a lifetime.

Natural indigo is a millennia-old plant dye. The alchemy of earth, water, air and indigo leaves creates an unpredictable beauty. The rich natural colour of the indigo may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight. The textile may carry subtle imperfections; this is a part of the magic of handwoven textiles.
