Online Workshop : Indigo Vat Set Up and Dyeing Techniques ( Price inclusive of the Indigo DIY Craft Box)

Join the Nila team for a two-day workshop on setting up a natural indigo vat, ideal for studio experiments. This workshop includes the Learn with Nila Indigo Craft Box, which will be shipped to you.

Two days prior to the workshop, we will send you a Zoom link. After the
workshop is completed, a link with the recording of the workshop.

The last day to register is September 23rd, 6:00 pm IST / 12:30 pm GMT.

Workshop schedule
Day 1
Set up a 5 litre sour vat using lime powder as the base and tamarind as a reducing agent.
Day 2

Explore the various dyeing possibilities with your indigo vat.
Experiment with shibori, tie-dye, yarn dyeing and dip dyeing processes using the Nila Indigo Craft Box.

The Nila Indigo Craft Box includes:
Ceramic vial with Natural indigo powder
Ceramic vial with natural washing agent - soap nut powder
Undyed, handwoven cotton stole
Undyed, handwoven cotton bandana
Muslin for serving
Undyed, handspun cotton yarn
Bamboo spoon for measuring and stirring
pH paper
Wood resists in 4 shapes for clamp-dyeing
Handmade stainless steel clamp
Bamboo rod for Arashi shibori
Ties, thimble, butter paper for Bandhani
Instruction booklet/guide

You will also need:
Dried tamarind (for a sour vat)
Lime powder
A wide mouth bowl for mixing indigo
20 litre container, ideally glass
