The Kimono Dress from the Nila x Anna Valentine collection is the product of cross cultural currents. Made of subtly textured cotton, handspun on an “Amba'' charkha by weavers in West Bengal, the dress gets its striking window grid graphic with indigo dyed using a traditional clamp technique. This clamp-dye technique is the Indian iteration of Japanese Itajime Shibori. Nila worked with some of the best Shibori artisans at the studio in Jaipur to create the Kimono dress.
The breathable fabric is perfect for long summer days and will grow softer with every wear. The lightly sculptural cut is made to be universally flattering. Wear it as is or belt it at the waist for a more fitted look.
100 % Handloom cotton
Dry clean only.
Natural indigo is a millennia-old plant dye. The alchemy of earth, water; air, and indigo leaves creates an unpredictable beauty. The rich natural colour may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight and the handwoven cotton linen may carry some imperfections; this is a part of the beauty of handwoven textiles.
This piece is made to be worn and cherished for a long time.
