A pared-back take on Japanese Boro mending techniques, the Kyoto Quilt was created using off-cut handwoven indigo cotton textiles from our productions. This statement piece is subtle enough to blend into most interior schemes yet striking enough to enhance a space - bringing a contemporary feel to an age-old practice.
The filling is of pure breathable cotton, carefully placed between two fine layers of patchwork textile and hand-quilted with the light but strong kantha stitch. The women who have hand stitched this piece work from home in Amer, near Jaipur.
The handwoven cotton textile has been yarn-dyed with natural indigo and hand-spun on the Amba charkha, before being set to looms in West Bengal.
Our quilts are made to be wrapped around you through cooler evenings, thrown over a sofa or armchair, and as covers for single beds. This piece is also entirely reversible.
