Nila Kurta Shade 8

The Kurta is a centuries-old garment, with a ubiquitous design that has stood the test of time. The timeless appeal of this iconic Indian garment is imbued with pure, natural indigo for the Nila Kurta in Shade 8. Stitched in the classic, roomy kurta silhouette, the Nila Kurta has a Nehru collar for relaxed elegance, transitioning beautifully from an everyday staple to a semi-formal piece of sustainable, stylish clothing.

Made of pure cotton hand spun on the charkha, the cloth for the Nila Kurta was woven on pit looms in Murshidabad, West Bengal. The handwoven fabric was dyed in natural indigo vats by master dyers in Sawantwadi, Maharashtra, dipped eight times to reach the rich hue of indigo in Shade 8. The process of multiple dips is highly laborious, taking up to two weeks to achieve the final result. The final stitching was done by artisans in Jaipur.

The Nila Kurta is also available in a lighter chambray version.

Composition and care:

100% Handwoven Cotton

Hand wash gently with cold water and line dry in the shade.
Natural indigo is a millennia-old plant dye. The alchemy of earth, water; air, and indigo leaves creates an unpredictable beauty. The rich natural colour may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight and the cotton may carry some imperfections - this is a part of the beauty of handwoven textiles.
