The Parachute Dress from the Nila x Anna Valentine collection is an incredibly stylish and unique piece inspired by one of Anna’s archive silhouettes. Made of fine cotton, handspun on an “Amba'' charkha by weavers in West Bengal, the dress gets its striking window grid graphic with indigo dyed using a traditional clamp technique. This clamp-dye technique is the Indian iteration of Japanese Itajime Shibori. Nila worked with some of the best Shibori artisans at the studio in Jaipur to create this piece.
The breathable fabric is perfect for long summer days and will grow softer with every wear. The sculptural cut of the dress is designed to be worn in imaginative ways, fitted at the waist or worn as is.
100 % Handloom cotton
Dry clean only.
Natural indigo is a millennia-old plant dye. The alchemy of earth, water; air, and indigo leaves creates an unpredictable beauty. The rich natural colour may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight and the handwoven cotton linen may carry some imperfections; this is a part of the beauty of handwoven textiles.
This piece is made to be worn and cherished for a long time.
