The Sachiko cushion is named after the ancient Japanese embroidery technique that uses a running stitch on an indigo base. ‘Sachiko’ translates from Japanese to mean “little stabs”, a reference to the fine needlework used to create the cascade of patterns inspired by nature or geometric motifs.
Nila’s Sachiko cushion is made from handwoven natural indigo fabric has been expertly yarn dyed and woven on handlooms in West Bengal. Embroidered in Jaipur, the face of the cushion carries an intricate pattern of diamonds that come together in a clover leaf at the heart of the cushion.
