Over the past two years, the Nila team has been exploring various natural dye processes and meticulously documenting dye recipes.One of the many fascinating dyes has been manjistha, also known as Indian madder (Rubia cordifolia). Join us for an insightful two-day session to explore shades of Indian madder. 

Day 1 - Preparing your fabric for dyeing Learn the essential steps and processes, like mordanting, to prepare your fabric.

Day 2 - Dyeing with Indian madder Create your dye baths and practice resist techniques to achieve a variety of patterns in a spectrum of reds.

This workshop will be guided by the Nila team and welcomes beginners and seasoned dyers alike. It includes lunch at Nila and all materials for dyeing, including handwoven cotton napkins.
