Explore the fascinating world of Kalbelia textiles with master artisan Mewa Sapera. The Kalbelia community, known for their captivating dance and music, also possess a rich but lesser-known tradition of creating stunning quilted textiles known as gudris Mewa ji is a renowned gudri expert and brings her extraordinary skills and deep knowledge of this rare craft to Nila House.
In this workshop, you will delve into the history, stories, and techniques of Kalbelia quilting and embroidery. Mewa ji will guide you through the creation of your own Kalbelia textile using traditional methods.
This workshop is open to ages 18 and above, with all materials and lunch provided by Nila. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a unique, handmade Kalbelia textile to take home, along with a deep appreciation for this beautiful, culturally significant craft
