The unisex Ticking Apron has been made with pure cotton woven at an independent studio in Gurugram, near New Delhi. The base textile carries a stripe pattern, made using indigo yarn dyed at natural vats in Maharashtra. The durable, simple but strong cotton has denim look but with a far softer feel.
The apron ties at the neck and waist, with heavy duty cotton canvas ties, dyed with natural indigo that is gentle on the skin.
The Ticking Apron, finished with pockets in variable sizes, easily fits handy studio essentials like brushes or tubes of paint. It can equally be used by restaurant staff, with its smart stripes and roomy pockets to fit a notepad and pen for orders on a busy evening.
To create the Ticking Apron, the Nila studio team worked closely with the women associated with the Bagru chapter of our sister organisation, LBCT. The stitching up-skilling sessions helped create awareness on design and quality control, which has gone on to help the women grow their income opportunities through the strength of their craft.
