Weaving On The Frame Loom For Children (11-15yrs)

An introduction to the slow craft of hand weaving. Weaving is the method of creating an interconnected mesh with warp (vertical thread) and weft (horizontal thread) for textile creation.

 During the workshop, our young participants will explore different varieties of yarns and fibers.

 Day 1 - Learn the basics of warp and weft, and plain weave with the paper weave.

 Day 2 - Set up the warp on the frame looms to start weaving using recycled yarn. 

 Day 3 - Collecting found materials to incorporate in the weave. Planning and weaving together a collaborative piece using recycled yarns and found materials (preferably natural materials) with the techniques learnt.

 Price is inclusive of workshop materials provided by Nila House.
