BLOCK PRINTING CRAFT BOX FOR KIDS 

Block printing is the craft of using carved wooden blocks to create intricate print transfers onto textile or paper. It is one of the earliest forms of printing known to us. Hand-block printing is done with an expert approximation by eye, with no grids outlined ahead of the printing. The beautiful imperfection of the human hand gives this craft a unique, humane quality. Block printing is a craft that requires practice to create elegant, even patterns, but is equally fun for free-hand experiments.

The Nila Block Printing Craft Box for kids comes with a set of custom designed, hand-carved wooden blocks in fun animal form, textile blanks and an instruction guide to help you get started with your print experiments.

3 teak wooden blocks in custom animal forms of a camel, elephant and sparrow

Handwoven cotton blanks for a stole and bandana

(200 x 100 cm / 55 x 55 cm)

2 ceramic vases containing natural colours of red (Madder root) and yellow (Fire Flame, indigenous to Rajasthan)

2 ceramic vases myrobalan and alum

A porous ‘dabli’ or sponge cloth for the pigment tray

The kit contains small objects and natural pigments that is meant for external use only. Please use rubber gloves if you are working with these colours for the first time or have sensitive skin. Adult supervision is recommended when used by young children.
