As well as being a repository of knowledge on traditional Indian textiles and natural dyes, Nila House is also a dynamic site for experimentation, bringing together traditional artisan skills and contemporary design. This year, the in-house Nila Collection explores natural indigo - incorporating the ancient, mysterious dye into handmade weaves, prints and embroideries while honouring the simplicity of its dip-dyed shades. We honour artisans of excellence from across India - the quilters, natural dyers and printers of Rajasthan; kantha artists and jamdani weavers of West Bengal; indigo practitioners of Gujarat and handloom weavers from Kashmir to Kerala.
