Celebrating Handloom Day

Celebrate Handloom Day with an intimate, hands-on weaving experience that honours the knowledge, skill, and artistry of our Malikpur weaving community.

Over three days, six participants will work in pairs alongside a weaver from Malikpur, collaboratively creating woven textile swatches on sample looms. Through this shared making process, participants will experience weaving as a dialogue, where multiple hands, perspectives, and traditions come together to create a collective textile story.

The workshop introduces the fundamentals of weaving, from understanding the interlacing of warp and weft to experimenting with woven structures and patterns. Participants will also explore woven patterns.
