Indigo-on-white is a timeless combination for Jamdani textiles, evoking romantic visions of Bengal. This feather light textile with its distinct extra weft brocade on fine cotton muslin is a part of the rich heritage of West Bengal and Bangladesh.
The jamdani motifs, woven by master craftsmen in the famous weaving centre of Phulia in West Bengal, are in a deep midnight blue shade of indigo, arrived at by dipping the hand spun yarn 6 times in the natural indigo vat.
Light and gentle against the skin, this fabric is ideal for elegant summer clothing. Hand wash separately in cold water. Handwoven textiles may carry subtle irregularities - this is a part of the beauty of textiles made by hand.
