NATURAL DYE BLOCK PRINTING
Dates: 09th & 10th October,2026 Saturday
Time: 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM IST
Spend two days at Nila exploring how colour moves from plant to fabric through natural dyeing and hand block printing.
Working with Acacia catechu (katha) to create shades of brown and yellow, and pomegranate (anaar) for yellow, participants will follow the process from preparing the dyes to printing their own bandanas.
The first day will begin with extracting colour and preparing the fabric. On the second day, participants will make the dye pastes and print by hand using carved wooden blocks, before steaming the finished pieces to help the colours settle into the fabric.
Through each stage, the workshop offers a closer understanding of natural colour—how it is prepared, how it responds to fabric, and the variations that emerge through working by hand.
All materials are included, along with lunch at Nila on both days. Each participant will take home their finished hand-printed bandana. Open to all ages and skill levels.
