Reverse Appliqué of Barmer

Discover the textile tradition of Barmer through a hands-on introduction to reverse appliqué, a technique recognised for its bold geometry, layered construction, and fine hand stitching.
In this one-day workshop, participants will explore the process of building a textile composition through layers of fabric, carefully cutting and revealing forms to create patterns, colour contrasts, and varied visual structures.
Guided by artisans, participants will gain an understanding of Barmer's distinctive textile traditions and how layers of fabric can be transformed into patterned surfaces through this craft.
All materials will be provided, and lunch will be served at Nila. No prior experience is required; participants of all ages and skill levels are welcome.
