Shades of Marigold Paper

Thoughtfully written by hand, even the simplest words become lasting keepsakes. Nila’s Shades of Marigold paper comes as a set of 10 sheets of bevelled edge handmade paper, carrying soft golden tones drawn from marigold flower extracts and the warmth of sunlight.

In this collection, marigold finds a new expression through handmade paper crafted using recycled cotton fabric as the base for the pulp. The making begins with the careful segregation of fabric scraps, which are gradually turned into pulp, flattened into sheets and left out to dry. The paper is then hand dyed using 100% marigold flower extracts, with alum used as a pre-treatment to improve dye absorption and colour fastness.

One of a kind in character, the paper reflects sunlit tones, the patience of the artisan and the poetry of slow craft, while its smooth, rich grain makes it especially delightful to write on.
