Explore Soof, a counted-thread embroidery tradition recognised by its precise geometric patterns.
Unlike embroidery that begins with a drawing on the fabric, Soof is worked directly by counting the threads of the fabric. Patterns are built stitch by stitch, with geometry and symmetry guiding the embroiderer as the design takes form.
Through guided exercises and hands-on practice, participants will learn the foundations of the technique and begin creating their own geometric forms.
This workshop offers an introduction to a practice shaped by an intimate understanding of fabric, thread and pattern, and the skill required to bring all three together by hand.
The workshop is open to participants of all skill levels. All materials will be provided, and lunch is included.
