The Village Blouse brings together Jamdani weaving, natural indigo and fine hand detailing in a light, layered silhouette. The extra-weft motif is a bespoke design developed at the Nila studio and woven into soft cotton Jamdani by skilled artisans in West Bengal.
The indigo yarn used for the extra-weft motifs is naturally dyed, creating a soft blue against the white muslin base. Jaali stitchwork runs along the arms and front panel, drawing from the latticework found in Mughal architecture. Used in place of conventional darts, the technique opens the seams and gives the layered panels a sense of lightness.
Feather-light and soft against the skin, the Village Blouse is an easy piece to layer and wear in different ways.
